AC Tool Supply Explodes With A Google PR3!
It took exactly 4 months, to the day, for AC Tool Supply to break into Google's Page Rankings.
We went live on May 30th, 2008 and have been working feverishly on every aspect of the website from keyword density to natural Google listings to simple site navigation, and it hasn't been easy. It has been well worth it, though.
When Jason & I first took this on, we thought the "little green bar" was everything. We joined webmaster forums and SEO boards like gangbusters. We took it all in from scratch, looking back every month or so and realizing how ignorant we were in the months previous. Now 4 months in, I know we've only scratched the surface, however, we have learned a lesson about the little green bar..... It dosen't mean squat to us. The only thing page rank is good for is advertising. The higher your page rank, the more traffic you have, therefore the more people want to advertise in your banners, headers & footers. Basically, anywhere you'll let them. Only, I don't want advertisers at my site. I want consumers and consumers don't care about page rank. In my opinion, Google "natural listing" is far more valuable than page rank.
Last night as I brought up our home page and saw the tiny smudge of green in Google's Toolbar, I stared in confusion at the address bar wondering where my typo was. There was in fact no typo.
This may seem trivial to the masses, but anyone who has built a website from the ground up and toiled night after endless night on SEO, new content, etc. can understand the utter delight of the little green bar.
Now, I realize I just spent the last couple of minutes explaining how I don't care about page rank, but to see it for the first time above your homepage gives you a sense of progress and a renewed strength to get back to work, making your site bigger and better.
That is, in fact, exactly what we intend to do.
